SINGAPORE: Earlier today, emergency services responded swiftly to a fire that broke out at Block 415 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) announced on its Facebook page that it was alerted to the blaze around 9:15 am.
Upon reaching the scene, SCDF officers witnessed thick black smoke emanating from a window on the fourth floor of the building. Fortunately, no occupants were in the affected unit at the time of the fire.
Armed with breathing apparatus, SCDF firefighters promptly entered the smoke-filled unit to tackle the blaze. The fire, which had engulfed the contents of the unit, was successfully doused using two water jets.
Additionally, a Combined Platform Ladder was strategically positioned at the back of the building to facilitate the firefighting effort and provide external coverage with the second water jet.
To ensure safety, approximately 60 residents of the affected block were evacuated. The Police and SCDF personnel coordinated the precautionary evacuation efforts.
From the photos of the SCDF, it can be seen that the kitchen was thoroughly burned and firemen were dousing the scene.
Gratefully, no injuries were reported from the incident.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, and an official investigation is currently underway.
