Environment Building lockdown on Wednesday morning due to ‘security situation’; No threat items found, says Minister Grace Fu
The Environment Building at 40 Scotts Road reportedly faced a bomb threat on Wednesday morning.
Minister Grace Fu’s Facebook update stated that police collaborated with on-site security for initial checks, finding no threat items. She learned of the situation during ASEAN meetings in Vientiane, Laos.

SINGAPORE: The Environment Building situated at 40 Scotts Road, home to the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, the national water agency PUB, and the National Environment Agency, reportedly received a bomb threat on the morning of Wednesday (23 Aug).
As initially reported by Singaporean Chinese media outlet Lianhe Zaobao, a reader provided a tip-off that the ministry’s office building had received a suspicious bomb threat on Wednesday morning.
Notices were displayed within the building, alerting occupants to an ongoing emergency and initiating a lockdown protocol around 9.30 am.
In response, all employees within the premises were swiftly evacuated to the entrance, and the building was placed under a state of lockdown.
Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu, provided an update on Wednesday afternoon, revealing that she had learned of an ongoing security situation at the Environment Building while attending ASEAN meetings in Vientiane, Laos.
She conveyed that the police collaborated with on-site security personnel for initial checks, which yielded no discovery of threat items.
“I’m monitoring the developments closely from here and am in constant contact with my colleagues. ”
Nevertheless, she reassured all staff and stakeholders at the Environment Building that their safety remains paramount.
