SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to two industrial fires, one in Eunos on Tuesday night (2 April) and another in Defu Lane early Wednesday morning.

SCDF reported on Facebook that they received an alert regarding the fire at 1049 Eunos Avenue 6 around 9:15 pm.

Upon arrival, they encountered a significant blaze affecting three units within a row of terrace workshops.

Following the containment of the fire, SCDF firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus ventured into the smoke-filled units to identify its source.

During their assessment, they discovered that the roof of one unit had collapsed.

The fire, fueled by building materials and office equipment within the three units, was successfully extinguished after approximately four hours. Consequently, two adjacent units sustained heat and smoke damage.

SCDF mobilized a team of about 70 firefighters and 19 emergency vehicles to combat the blaze.

At its peak, the operation utilized nine water jets, an aerial water monitor, and an unmanned firefighting machine.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

SCDF also issued an advisory message through the SGSecure mobile app and to subscribers of M1, StarHub, and Singtel within the vicinity of the fire, urging the public to steer clear of the area.

Subsequently, SCDF responded to an incident at Block 30 Defu Lane 9 around 12:20 am.

The fire engulfed a two-storey industrial building housing a vehicle workshop on the ground floor and an office on the second floor.

Five individuals evacuated before firefighters arrived, with two assessed for smoke inhalation.

One was hospitalized at Sengkang General Hospital while the other declined treatment.

Additionally, a firefighter experiencing heat exhaustion was hospitalized as a precautionary measure.

Five people had evacuated before firefighters arrived at the scene, said SCDF in an update on Facebook at about 2.35 am on Wednesday.

Two people were assessed for smoke inhalation, with one of them taken to Sengkang General Hospital. The other declined to be taken to hospital.

During the operation, a firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and was transported to Sengkang General Hospital as a precautionary measure, as stated by SCDF.

No other injuries were reported.
