MALAYSIA: What would you do if you came across an individual discreetly capturing upskirt images and videos in public spaces?
A recent incident unfolded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, featuring a local radio DJ and actor, Jack Lim.
This occurred during a movie promotion event at KL Mall (20 Jan), where he confronted and apprehended a man engaged in taking upskirt photos and videos of female attendees, including celebrities and influencers.
Expressing his frustration with the situation, Jack took drastic measures, ultimately kicking the individual before being restrained by auxiliary police.
Reportedly, the wrongdoer employed a tactic of using a paper bag to conceal his phone, attempting to discreetly record upskirt footage in close proximity to his unsuspecting victims.
Subsequently, Jack took to his Facebook page to express regret for his actions, acknowledging his lapse in judgment.
He asserted his readiness to face any legal consequences arising from physically confronting the perpetrator.
In his statement, Jack admitted, “I realise I should not have taken matters into my own hands. I just couldn’t tolerate it.”
He went on to clarify that, as someone with a family, he felt a duty to protect those around him.
Jack also underscored the rising concern over recent and escalating incidents jeopardizing the safety of women, emphasizing his commitment to addressing such issues.
