MELAKA, MALAYSIA: The body of a two-year-old Malaysian boy, who went missing after reportedly falling into a drain during heavy rain on 25 November, was discovered a day later by a couple in Taman Desa Baru, about 1.3 km away from the incident site.
The couple, moved by the distressing news, decided to help locate the child.
The discovery, made at 9.20 am on Sunday (26 Nov), brought a tragic end to the search effort.
Melaka Fire and Rescue Department’s Zone One officer, Superintendent Zulkhairani Ramli, reported that no injuries were observed on the victim’s body.
The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

According to The Star, the child’s mother recounted that her two-year-old son disappeared while playing with his four-year-old brother near a 1.2-meter drain behind her nasi kerabu stall.
She reported that her son disappeared at 3.25 pm on a rainy Saturday.
Despite instructing her sons to stay away from the drain, both went missing while she attended to a customer.
Concerned, her husband filed a police report at 3.40 pm when their son couldn’t be found, and his slippers were discovered near the drain.
