Singapore’s electronic payment services faced a hiccup on Friday (3 Nov), as customers encountered difficulties in transactions due to connectivity issues.
NETS, the leading payment solutions provider, acknowledged the problem with NETS QR and eNETS services, advising the public of “intermittent connectivity issues” in a Facebook post at approximately 12:20 pm.
Clients reported payments not being registered or being billed multiple times, stirring considerable inconvenience.
In response to the service disruption, NETS assured users that efforts were underway to stabilize the system and extended gratitude for their patience.
DBS, Singapore’s largest bank, also took to social media, informing its clientele of the unavailability of NETS-related facilities, including NETS QR Scan & Pay. The bank encouraged customers to use alternative payment methods such as DBS/POSB credit and debit cards or PayNow for their transactions.
An hour later, NETS updated the status on Facebook, stating that NETS QR and eNETS services had been restored.
Both NETS and DBS have expressed appreciation for their customers’ understanding during the service interruption. For ongoing updates, NETS has directed users to their website.
