SINGAPORE: On Sunday (3 Sept), Danelle Tan, a Singaporean footballer, achieved a remarkable feat by scoring three goals in Borussia Dortmund’s dominant 13-0 home league victory over DJK Spvgg Herten.

At the age of 18, this talented forward found the net for Dortmund in the 42nd, 57th, and 64th minutes, contributing significantly to her team’s victory.

In addition to her impressive goal-scoring, Tan also displayed her playmaking abilities by providing three assists.

She expertly delivered a precise cross for her team’s first goal, which was expertly converted by Mandy Reinhardt.

Furthermore, she played a pivotal role in the goals scored by Marie Grothe and Merle Greulich.

“Many of the goals were extremely well created and the girls implemented the training contents outstandingly on the pitch,”stated a satisfied head coach, Thomas Sulewski, according to a press release from Borussia Dortmund’s official website.

Deepanraj Ganesan, a sports journalist from The Straits Times, had previously shared a clip on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the exceptional skills and close collaboration between Danelle Tan and her teammates that led to her hat trick in the game.

Earlier this year, Tan made the transition to the Borussia Dortmund women’s team, known as Borussia Dortmund Frauen (BVB Frauen), and participated in the club’s preseason matches starting in July.

Notably, she holds the distinction of being the first female signing from Asia for the German side.

Danelle Tan also featured in Borussia Dortmund Frauen’s league opener on 27 August, where they secured a 5-1 victory against SC Drolshagen.

Borussia Dortmund is a German professional sports club based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The club is best known for its men’s professional football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system.

Despite the relatively recent formation of BVB Frauen in 2021, the women’s football team has made remarkable strides in German football, achieving consecutive championships.

Currently, they occupy the top spot in the league table after just two games played.
