At least 100 people were killed in Israeli missile strikes on a school compound in Gaza City on Saturday morning (10 Aug), according to the territory’s civil defense service.

The strikes targeted the Tabeen school, where about 6,000 displaced people had taken shelter, causing significant casualties and destruction in a conflict marked by a staggering death toll.

The bombing occurred as many at the school prepared for dawn prayers.

Video footage from the scene depicted a devastating loss of life, showing body parts, rubble, and destroyed furniture scattered across blood-soaked mattresses. Witnesses described a scene of chaos and terror.

Abu Anas, a volunteer who helped rescue the wounded, told the Associated Press (AP), “There were people praying, washing, and others upstairs sleeping, including children, women, and the elderly. The missile fell on them without warning. We recovered them as body parts.”

Dr Fadel Naeem, director of al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, said the facility received 70 bodies of those killed in the strikes, along with the body parts of at least 10 others.

He described Saturday as “one of the hardest days,” highlighting the hospital’s severe shortage of medical supplies and resources.

“The situation at the hospital is catastrophic due to the horrific Israeli massacre, which has resulted in numerous amputations and severe burns.”

The Tabeen school bombing is one of the deadliest single strikes in the ten months of conflict between Israel and Hamas.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the attack targeted militants using the school as a base, claiming that at least 20 fighters, including senior commanders, were among the dead. However, Hamas disputes these claims.

More than half of the schools sheltering displaced people in Gaza have been directly hit in the last 10 months, UNICEF reports.

Since 4 July, the UN Human Rights Office has recorded 21 strikes on schools-turned-shelters, adding to the death toll of nearly 40,000 Palestinians, with more than 92,000 injured.

Global outrage grows over deadly attack on Gaza school

In response to the strikes, a Hamas political officer, Izzat el Reshiq, condemned the attacks as a “horrific crime and a serious escalation,” asserting that the dead did not include a “single combatant.”

The Palestinian Authority, based in the West Bank, also issued a rare statement, with a spokesperson for President Mahmoud Abbas urging the United States to “put an end to the blind support that leads to the killing of thousands of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.”

The international community has responded with alarm and condemnation.

Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, condemned the attack, stating, “Another school hit with reports of dozens of Palestinians killed, among them women, children, and older people.”

“Schools, UN facilities, and civilian infrastructure are not a target. It’s time for these horrors unfolding under our watch to end.”

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell stated on X, “There’s no justification for these massacres,” while UK Foreign Minister David Lammy said he was “appalled.”

Jordan and Egypt condemned the attack, with Egypt’s foreign ministry stating that Israel’s “deliberate killing” of Palestinians reflects a lack of political will to end the war in Gaza.

Iran also joined the chorus of condemnation, labeling the Tabeen attack “barbarous” and “a war crime.”

IDF disputes death toll and damage claims

The IDF, however, disputed the death toll and the scale of the strike’s impact.

Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, stated that the reported number of deaths “does not distinguish between combatants and non-combatants, and they do not match the information held by the IDF.”

The IDF’s statement also questioned the extent of the damage, asserting that the munitions used “cannot cause the amount of damage reported” by the Gaza government’s information office.

According to the latest update from the IDF on Monday (12 Aug), 31 terrorists were confirmed killed in the strike on the Hamas stronghold at the Tabeen school.

The IDF stated that these individuals were planning attacks against Israel.

Terrorists do not realised they are radicalized.
For centuries, they wanted to conquer Israel.

Even without USA help, Israel will never be conequered by these Arabs or special tribes.

Any doubt that this is all about land grabbing by killing the Occupants. If only Hitler had been successful, this will not be happening but imagine adding another six million possible murderers to this. It could be said Hitler did a service to mankind.
