SINGAPORE: Former President of Singapore, Madam Halimah Yacob, known for her vocal stance on Palestinian issues, recently expressed her outrage over a bombing incident in a Gaza school by Israeli forces, which resulted in the deaths of 80 displaced Palestinians.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday (14 Aug), Mdm Halimah described the current conditions in Gaza as dire, highlighting the recent deadly strike by the Israeli Defence Force that claimed the lives of 80 displaced Palestinians.

Mdm Halimah also brought attention to the broader scale of the conflict, noting that more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, including over 14,000 children.

She shared a tragic story of a father who went to collect birth certificates for his newborn twins, only to return to bury them after they were killed by IDF airstrikes.

“Gaza looks like a mass graveyard of Palestinians and their homes,” she commented.

Additionally, she cited BBC Radio, reporting that more than 600 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since 7 October.

She also mentioned that thousands of kilometres of Palestinian land had been expropriated, adding to the areas already illegally occupied, which is against international laws and the recent ruling of the International Court of Justice.

Mdm Halimah criticizes global inaction on Gaza crisis

Mdm Halimah criticized the international community’s response to the conflict, stating, “And what is the world doing? Nothing except for exhortations after exhortations calling for a ceasefire with no concrete effort.”

She noted that, according to the UN, 90% of the Palestinian population is displaced.

“Where is the morality of this all, not to mention the sheer inhumanity of it?” she questioned.

Mdm Halimah remarked on the selective application of international humanitarian law, lamenting that this is what the world has been reduced to.

Reflecting on the global response to other conflicts, she drew comparisons with the recent events in Ukraine, saying, “After Russia’s attack on Ukraine, we hear endlessly of the need to uphold the rules-based global order defined by international laws.”

Mdm Halimah expressed her dismay over the international community’s reaction to the situation in Gaza, stating that the muted and weak protestations over the gross inhumanity happening in Gaza are appalling.

She concluded her post with a call to action, urging the world to “Stand on the side of humanity.”

Israeli forces bomb a school used as shelter by displaced Palestinians

On Saturday morning (10 Aug), Israeli forces bombed Tabeen School in Gaza, where approximately 6,000 displaced Palestinians had sought refuge.

The attack occurred as many inside the school were preparing for dawn prayers.

The bombing resulted in significant casualties and destruction, with at least 100 people confirmed dead, an increase from the initial reports of 80 fatalities.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the strike targeted Hamas operatives, claiming to have killed around 20 militants, including a senior commander.

However, Hamas disputes these claims, stating that none of the deceased were combatants.

Since the beginning of the Israeli assault on 7 October, the death toll in Gaza has reached nearly 40,000, with over 92,000 injured, including women and children.

The UN agency reports that approximately 1.9 million Palestinians are now displaced in Gaza.

In a related development, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have presented a plan to implement a ceasefire and hostage-release deal.

The plan urges Israel and Hamas to resume negotiations to finalize the agreement, emphasizing that there are no excuses “from any party for further delay.”

Hey Any Info on Her Pension????
Like all other perks, as SG’s past president???
Can anyone find out please.
For at least OTC sake.

I guess the point of the discussion eludes me. It is fascinating that in this one case( Israeli-Hamas war) to emerge out of the Middle Eastern cauldron that seems to cry out for intervention we are currently being treated to all of this moral introspection. US’s Iraq/Afghan war that killed half a million civilians/children was that the rationale consisted of lies and manipulation, and the planning featured failure to consider consequences, and suppression of truth..To me the horror lies in the fact that western (UK, France, Canada, US, Sweden) raised Ethnic Muslims and some misguided natives of the western world… Read more »

Halimah, no one is going to stop the war as most in the G7 may have been infiltrated by the Zionist Movement. So they are indirectly supporting the annihilation of the Palestinians just like the Red Indians in America. However there is hope in Israel itself as the rioting against Netanyahu and the Zionists intensifies. Hope the countries in the region become more Eastward looking and dump the warmongering Colonists.

maybe ask her take a holiday trip to Gaza. lol

Woman should just keep quiet and drink milo.

Why is she so “kaypor” now. Never before did she expressed her feelings on international matters like press freedom and human rights.Must have repent after being side lined for so long.

She still talking ah?
I thought she convert back to Indian…that’s what her IC states.
No?
Then wayang becos still on being paid with TAX PAYERS money for life, is it?
Why the hell is she still being paid with money from public funds?
Why ah?😆😆😆😆

she is no more our papsident right? lol

Eat Fish if Chicken is Expensive. tsk tsk tsk

Did she ask the Hamas terrorists to free the civilian hostages?

Did she said 7th October event should not have happened? LOL

Whaa, so fierce when talking about the plight of people OUTSIDE of SG, but very quiet about the plights of Singaporeans when she was our Kelong President, hor. The pappies’ Useful Idiot to fool the 61% idiots.

She did nothing as president and now that she’s no longer, she’s suddenly developed a conscience? Spare us the crocodile tears.

This Regime welcome trash who came to SG work as retail assistants, drivers, hawker centre cleaners, janitors, and so on. Issue is if they are so humanistically minded, can always at their freewill to import 100s of 1000s of them right? Wouldn’t they even be more cheaper labour, lower level of fruits to pluck?

So what is what afa Harimau is concern about?

Mdm Halimah, you are a five-millionaire now and also free from any official post. You can move to the West Bank or Gaza and help with your two hands.

Maybe you can also tell the people of Gaza that if chicken is expensive, eat fish.

There are apparent local killings – why must killings being equated with physical demolition of lives, of living beings – in the punishment of mules in the drug trade, in castrating people with different political views and eschewing of different political, social opinions whose livelihoods are persecuted, denied this denied that? Aren’t these also killings of one, if one were to apply fundamental out of the mill definitions (politically incorrect especially), why not?

Why speak of events that are of no bearing?

Go to sleep lah

Your voice very very soft .
