The Elections Department (ELD) announced on 22 July that Singapore’s revised voter rolls have been certified and are now ready for public inspection.

The updated registers feature a total of 2,715,187 electors, an increase of 5,732 from the 2,709,455 electors listed during the last revision in July 2023, prior to the 2023 Presidential Election.

To provide context, there were 2,653,942 eligible voters in Singapore’s last general election in 2020.

The certification of the revised Registers of Electors was completed on 21 July, and these registers will be available for public inspection starting from 23 July, as stated by the ELD.

Singaporean citizens can check their particulars electronically via Voter Services on the ELD website or through the Singpass mobile application.

For those unable to access these services online, they can inspect their particulars in person at community centres and clubs, ServiceSG Centres, or the ELD’s office by making an appointment.

The certification of the registers is a routine process conducted after revisions between elections to ensure that the voter rolls are up to date. The registers include the names of all Singapore citizens who were qualified to be electors as of 1 June. This update encompasses Singaporeans who turned 21 since the last revision on 1 June 2023, and immigrants who have become citizens since then.

Historically, there has been no fixed period between the certification of the registers and the announcement of an election. The voter rolls have been updated multiple times within a single term. This exercise comes in preparation for the next general election, which must be held by November 2025.

Each electoral division in Singapore has its own register of electors. Combined, the registers for all 31 group representation constituencies and single-member constituencies include all qualified voters in the Republic. The last update to the lists of eligible voters was on 1 June 2023, with a public inspection period from 15 to 28 June.

Individuals whose names were removed from the registers due to failure to vote in a previous election can apply to have their names restored via Voter Services on the ELD website.

The ELD encourages early application, as it is legally prohibited from restoring names during the period from the issuance of the writ for an election until after Nomination Day if the election is uncontested, or until after polling day if a poll is conducted. Failure to restore their names in time will prevent them from voting if their electoral division is contested.

Singaporeans living overseas whose names are included in the Registers of Electors can register as overseas electors to vote by post or in person at one of the ten overseas polling stations located in Singapore missions in Beijing, Canberra, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, New York, San Francisco, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Washington, DC.

Registration can be done via the ELD website or in person at one of these overseas registration centres.

I rather shake legs and eat durians than queue to vote. Waste my time only.
Many old people complained the CC is just a stone throw distance away, why must go to vote at the void deck of a HDB flat few hundred metres away further than the CC.
Please take my name out.
