SINGAPORE: A Singaporean man has touched hearts by sharing a heartwarming video in which he spent S$58 to purchase biryani and drinks for migrant workers. This gesture was a special way for him to commemorate Singapore’s 58th anniversary.
The video was posted on TikTok by Muhammad Noor Tijany, using the username “_donjany.” Since its upload on Wednesday (9 Aug), the video has already amassed an impressive 216,100 views.
In the video, he can be seen making small talk while distributing food and beverages to random migrant workers around Boat Quay.
His considerate act made the migrant workers surprised and some are visibly overjoyed.
One worker even shared his personal story, mentioning his two children back home and expressing how much he misses them. This emotional exchange culminated in a heartfelt hug shared between Noor Tijany and the worker.
Noor stated in his video that National Day is not only a celebration for Singaporeans but for everyone that has built this place that we call home.
He also took the opportunity to remind the public that migrant workers have a lot of contributions to the country.
“I think this is the best time for us to at least show some appreciation to them because, at the end of the day, they are just normal human beings with emotions.”
“It makes them feel good when we show some appreciation to them,” he added.

Introducing the “Thank You Bhaiya 2023” initiative
As the video concluded, Noor extended a heartfelt invitation to the public, urging them to join hands in giving back to the migrant workers.
He encouraged everyone to participate in the “Thank You Bhaiya 2023” initiative, led by the Muslim Youth Forum (MYF) Singapore.
Recently MYF is organising a biryani luncheon to express gratitude to 1,000 migrant workers for their invaluable contributions.
The goal is to achieve a fundraising target of S$10,000 by 30 August.
