SCDF and DART conduct delicate rescue operation following SLE crash
A major accident involving a lorry and a truck on the SLE led to a complex rescue operation by the SCDF and DART. The driver was successfully extracted from the wreckage and transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for further treatment.
SINGAPORE: A serious road accident occurred on 2 August along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) towards Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), just before the Lentor Avenue exit.
The incident, which involved a collision between a lorry and a truck, occurred at approximately 3:20 pm. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted and swiftly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, SCDF officers discovered a male driver trapped in the crushed cab of the lorry. His lower limbs were pinned under the severely damaged dashboard, making extraction a delicate and complex operation.
An ambulance crew from SCDF immediately began to administer critical medical aid to the victim, working to stabilize his condition while the rescue operation was underway.
The complex extraction operation required the combined expertise of SCDF officers and members of the elite Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART).
Using hydraulic extendable ramps, the rescuers exerted force on the damaged dashboard to push it away from the victim. This created the much-needed space to free the man’s lower limbs.
In addition, cutting equipment was utilized to carefully remove the clutch pedal that had ensnared the victim’s left foot.
The operation was a success, and the man was carefully extricated from the mangled wreckage of his lorry. He was immediately transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for further medical attention.
Updates on the condition of the victim have yet to be released.
