A 13-year-old student allegedly chased three classmates with a paper cutter knife during a co-curricular activity at a secondary school in Melaka. No injuries were reported, and police have opened an investigation.

A Form One student allegedly chased three classmates with a paper cutter knife during a co-curricular activity at a secondary school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, on Thursday (9 July 2026) afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 2.50 pm while a student attendance appreciation programme was taking place in the school's open hall, according to Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar.
No injuries were reported.
Incident captured on CCTV
According to police, two boys aged 13 and 14 had allegedly been repeatedly throwing ice at the 13-year-old student.
Unable to control his anger, the student allegedly took a paper cutter knife from his pencil case and chased one of the boys for about 50 metres towards the school surau.
Two other students who were with the boy also ran away, fearing they might be targeted.
Ahmad said the incident was captured on the school's closed-circuit television (CCTV) system.
Teacher intervenes
According to Berita Harian, the student allegedly chased his classmates from the school hall towards the area near the surau before the situation was brought under control.
A teacher who witnessed the incident intervened and managed to calm the student, who subsequently surrendered the knife.
School prefects also assisted in securing the situation.
The three students later returned to the hall after the incident was resolved.
Family informed and police report lodged
Police said the student's family was contacted and he was later taken home.
A teacher subsequently lodged a police report at the Durian Tunggal police station on the night of the incident.
Investigations found that all students involved had disciplinary records dating back to the beginning of the school year, according to Ahmad.
Student receiving medical treatment
Police said the student had been receiving treatment at the Psychiatry and Mental Health Department of Hospital Melaka, with his most recent appointment recorded on 3 June.
Authorities said the school was aware of the student's condition.
Ahmad said the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Recent school safety concerns
The incident comes days after a separate stabbing case at a secondary school in Banting, Selangor, which drew nationwide attention.
However, police emphasised that no injuries occurred in the Alor Gajah incident and investigations remain ongoing.
