SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s first National Day Message will be broadcast on August 8, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday (August 1).

Mr Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, will deliver his message in English.

This will be his first National Day message as Prime Minister, following his swearing-in on 15 May, succeeding Mr Lee Hsien Loong, who is now Senior Minister.

Amid speculation of an early election, it is widely anticipated for PM Wong’s speech to seek to strengthen public trust in the PAP Government, particularly in the face of a series of controversies, including extramarital affairs involving the former Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin, corruption charges against former Transport Minister Iswaran, and the Ridout Road saga.

And more recently, the public outcry over the proposed sale of Income Insurance to German insurer Allianz.

According to PMO, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong will deliver the message in Mandarin, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli will deliver it in Malay, and Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam will deliver the message in Tamil.

The first broadcast in English will air on CNA and CNA938 at 6.45 pm.

The Malay broadcast will be at 8.30 pm on Suria, followed by the Mandarin broadcast on Channel 8 and Capital 958 at 8.45 pm.

The Tamil broadcast will air at 9 pm on Vasantham and Oli 968.

The National Day Message in all four languages will also be available on the PMO website and its YouTube channel after the initial broadcasts.

In 2023, PM Wong, who was then Deputy Prime Minister, delivered the National Day message in Mandarin.

Food prices are ridiculously high.

Count money Singapore . Lol

If he and his 4G team get less than 61% votes in next GE, maybe lose another 1-2 wards, very malu, wonder what he will label voters then? Cry and say Singaporeans very evil?

LW: please confiscate back all the HDB flats if the Lessees rent out their entire HDB flats and resale it back to the public. got balls or not?

HDB flats is’nt it for staying?. What do you think?

Will he shed tears while giving the ND speech?
It’ll be a first for this new PM..
Lets see…

Why use a photo like lawlanWong is gonna cry? Must report only good news, hor.

The tape recorder is still the same white color. you will still hear the same song when you play back the same recorder. What do you think? tsk tsk tsk

Why allows HDB lessee (not HDB owners) to lease out their entire hdb flats? why why why ?

Why can’t HDB lessee leased out their own condos or landed homes and stay in their own HDB flat?

If he follows tradition, we can expect more of the usual annual motherhood statement.

It would be a sheer waste of time and resources. But, I guess someone has to do it.

However since it is his first, I am inclined to wait until 8 Aug before passing judgement.

Who knows? He might surprise………

Expects a lot of “No Blaming Culture” excuses. Saw a presentation slide yesterday on CNA which showed good projected growth in ASEAN over the next 10 years – BUT the WORST growth among the countries is SG. Clearly SG is no longer an Asia tiger under the world’s highest (ownself) paid PM/ministers.

“Let’s face the tough times ahead, together, as one nation, one people!”

(But maintain ministerial salaries)

He can say whatever he wants, still not voting for the incumbents.

I care about actions not words. If Mr Lawrence Wong says that he wants to work for Singaporeans, prove it.

No wonder this guy has been “hiding” from the public. Busy writing his speech. Incidentally, do you know that CNA apparently helped to produce his life story and the resulting “movie” is being played on the TVs in the Community Centres.

Lots of saliva from Liang po po.

But little action so far. Cost of living still going upward, mimistar salary sky high, housing prices up and up, ….

Another mil$ lame duck PM..
….in addition to the lame duck new President.
We’re in big trouble sgs!

Can we have statistics as to how many are employed after using skills-future credits? tsk tsk tsk

He think GST vouchers is enough for the poor.LoL

As if the daily playing and discussions of the million and one “special” ND songs wasn’t bad enough, ………………

2023 jobs go to foreigners. Please ask them to watch.

Please do not disturb me.I am going to JB to enjoy my durians and wanton mee.

Just want to see how he explain away the Free Riders label his boss gave us. My take is he will just act fuxkin’ blur, feeling they are entitled to call us anything thinking there can be no consequences, empathize a lot of “We” in his message. So, put up an arrogant face or a worried face for his maiden speech?

His previous boss said “SG belongs to everyone”..
So he can go talk to the 40% everyone …
SGs all will be racing towards jb , batam and some even said going to thailand for some R&R.
SGs are fed up of listening to lies and broken promises.
Bye bye😎🤠

The only way he intend to sway the local loser voters this time round is to use those….’vouchers’. There is no way he going to bring cost down and no way that jobs will be going back to the local losers. All said, you losers have already seen and tasted the ‘picture’. Now is the time you local losers got to think, that is IF you ppl CAN think. So what’s it going to be this time round? $750,000 mayor or a better and more sustainable future for you losers to get your jobs BACK from the FTs? In anycase,… Read more »

Unless Lawrence Wrong is going to announce he is going to reverse on those unpopular policies set by his ex boss, he might as well don’t deliver any message.
