SINGAPORE: A 43-year-old former army officer passed away last Sunday (28 April) after collapsing at his workplace, just a year into his new role as an engineer.
After leaving the military, he joined the family business as an engineer.
Known for his robust health, he unexpectedly collapsed while on duty last Sunday and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
According to a report by Shin Min Daily News, his sister mentioned during an interview at the wake that the incident came as a shock, and the family is still grappling with the reality of his demise.
She told reporters that her brother collapsed suddenly around 2 p.m. while at work.
A colleague immediately administered CPR, and he regained consciousness briefly. An ambulance was called immediately.
However, while en route to the hospital, Robin Chua fell unconscious again.
Medical personnel accompanying him attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His father was also present at the time, accompanying the ambulance to the hospital.
The family was informed by doctors that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
Recalling her brother, she expressed admiration, highlighting his responsible nature and strong familial bonds.
"He was a good son and brother, always taking care of the family and being the first to step up when there were issues."
"His robust health history made his sudden collapse incomprehensible," she continued, noting the absence of heart disease in both Robin Chua and his parents.
