INDONESIA: A tragic incident unfolded in the Penjaringan district of North Jakarta on Saturday (9 March), where a family of two women and two men was discovered dead, having allegedly fallen from the 22nd floor of an apartment.

The incident, suspected to be a coordinated suicide, has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised questions about the circumstances leading to such a tragic end.

The family, identified as a husband (AE) and wife (AIL), along with their two children, a boy (JWA, 13 years old) and a girl (JL, 16 years old), were found lifeless outside the Teluk Intan Apartment Tower Topas in Penjaringan.

The authorities, led by The Head of the Metro Penjaringan Police Sector, Police Commissioner Agus Ady Wijaya, have initiated investigations to ascertain the underlying causes prompting the family to take such drastic measures.

According to initial reports, the family meticulously prepared for their fateful decision.

Agus Ady Wijaya revealed that the victims’ preparations were evident from the scrutiny of CCTV footage captured before the fatal leap.

“The preparations can be seen from their movements on CCTV before committing suicide,” Agus remarked during a press briefing on Sunday (10 March).

The family, arriving at the Teluk Intan Apartment in a Grandmax B 2962 BIQ vehicle, entered the lobby and proceeded towards the elevator.

AE was observed kissing his wife’s forehead while gathering all mobile phones into a bag before they ascended the emergency staircase and leapt from the apartment’s rooftop.

Despite the family having a residence within the apartment complex, they reportedly had not been residing there for the past two years, raising additional questions regarding their recent activities and state of mind.

The discovery of the victims was initially reported by security personnel stationed in the apartment lobby, who heard a loud thud.

Upon inspection, the bodies of the four individuals were found with severe head injuries and multiple fractures, indicative of the sheer impact of the fall.

The corpses were promptly transported to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for further examination through Visum Et Refertum procedures.

To those who end their lives, it’s a solution. Really a solution which to the very end there wasn’t any that’s the best, most effective – and that’s suicide. A suicide to end their suffering, their world of suffering where they cannot see, and find a… Read more »
