Blazing fire strikes pristine Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Bali on Monday

The allure of the vast sea stretching as far as the eye can see has charmed countless visitors over the years.
However, an unforeseen and unsettling event transpired recently.
On Monday (31 Jul), a viral TikTok video surfaced, featuring a blazing fire engulfing the pristine Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida.
Kelingking Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Nusa Penida, Bali.
The entrance which is located on a cliff with a hill that extends and juts towards the sea looks like a little finger (kelingking).
The video, posted by the account @adolvodive, garnered a staggering 617,6 thousand views.

According to the Klungkung Police Facebook page, the incident occurred on Sunday (30 Jul) around 04.30 pm (local time).
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the fire originated at the base of the majestic Kelingking cliff and quickly spread, consuming nearly 2 hectares of the cliff and the access road leading to Kelingking Beach.
The inferno created a hazardous situation, preventing many tourists from ascending due to the fire ravaging the surrounding bushes.
Swift and decisive action was taken by courageous firefighters, aided by Nusa Penida Police personnel and the supportive local community.
They worked tirelessly, dousing the burning cliffs with water to quell the flames.
As per the latest update from the Klungkung Police on Monday (31 Jul), the fire was successfully extinguished by 06.30 pm (local time).
By 07.30 pm (local time), relief spread among visitors as they were able to safely make their way up after the diligent personnel from sector police descended to the beach, ensuring the well-being of every tourist.
The exact cause of the fire remains elusive as no resident has confirmed witnessing its origin.
Taking charge of the situation, the Nusa Penida Police Chief, Kompol Ida Bagus Putra Sumerta, swiftly acknowledged the incident upon receiving information from his team.
“I have already instructed my staff to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter,” he stated.
