Man injured after two gunmen open fire at petrol station in Malaysia

MALAYSIA: A 41-year-old man was injured after two gunmen opened fire at a petrol station in Bidor Sentral, Bidor, Perak, Malaysia, on Tuesday evening (29 September).

The incident occurred at about 6.08pm when the victim arrived at the petrol station in a white Toyota Land Cruiser to refuel, according to Sinar Harian, citing Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin.

Police said a black Honda City arrived from the direction of Bidor town and stopped in front of the victim's vehicle.

Two men then got out of the Honda City and fired several shots at the victim's vehicle before fleeing.

Victim shot in shoulder

The victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was struck once in the left shoulder.

According to Sinar Harian, five people were inside the vehicle at the time, but the other four were not injured, police said.

The victim was initially treated at Tapah Hospital before being referred to a hospital in Ipoh and later transferred to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

His condition was reported to be stable after receiving treatment.

Police recover 9mm ammunition

A forensic examination at the scene recovered one 9mm Luger bullet, four 9mm Luger cartridge casings and bullet fragments.

Further examination of the victim's vehicle found additional bullet fragments and signs of gunfire.

Police said the incident involved the use of firearms and that investigations were underway to identify the suspects and establish the motive.

Investigators are also reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from several locations, including routes around Bidor and identified toll plazas.

Police are analysing other evidence recovered in connection with the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 3(1) of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.

A 56-second CCTV recording of the shooting was also circulated on social media following the incident.
