A shocking start to the year as unidentified gunmen disrupt a peaceful afternoon at a Malaysian coffee shop, leaving three injured in the aftermath.
MALAYSIA: Especially on the first day of January, as everyone looked forward to positive experiences and good fortune in the New Year, a disheartening incident unfolded for three Malaysian men in Sibu, Malaysia.
While enjoying a moment at a local coffee shop, their day took a dark turn when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle shot towards them.
The unsettling incident, which occurred on 1 January, was captured by surveillance cameras and subsequently gained widespread attention on various social media platforms.
The footage revealed the perpetrators arriving on a motorcycle, with one suspect directly confronting the victims at close range, while the other discharged shots from a parking area before swiftly fleeing the scene.
In a surprising turn of events, a man from the coffee shop responded to the chaos by angrily attempting to chase down the assailants, brandishing a chair in the process.
The aftermath saw the three victims, aged between 27 and 33, rushed to a private medical center for treatment.
As reported by the Borneo Post Online, they are currently in stable condition.
Sibu’s police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, provided insight into the ongoing investigation, stating that the authorities are diligently probing the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
